Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer with a solid background in mmWave / µWave / RF antennas and passive/activecircuit design, with a track record of carrying designs into production. Good understanding of antenna design fundamentals, optimization of performance and methods of verification. Strong background in 3D simulation of SIW, microstrip transitions, and planar antenna structures.

Requirements Duties:

Experienced problem solver who is comfortable in the lab with state-of-the-art RF test equipment. This position requires an individual with excellent technical, communication, relationship-building skills, including, both oral and written. Leadership and training skills enabling the candidate to pass structure, knowledge and technique to junior engineers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate and test mm wave phased array antennas, and other antennas using simulators.  Firm grasp of design techniques of reflectors and lenses.
  • Assist junior engineers and designers in their tasks in the design process.
  • Create test plans and drive Design Verification Testing Requirements.
  • Interface with customers, sales, and marketing personnel to discuss new requirements and answer questions about products.
  • Assist in the preparation of conceptual description, final performance goals, cost and time estimates of the design process for management review.  Build and test prototypes and carry through to production units.
  • Lead review meetings to discuss and evaluate progress in the design.
  • May be called upon to present papers and write articles about newly developed products.
  • Work in an ISO driven design/production environment
  • Compile specifications, test and progress reports, and other exhibits that may be required.
  • Identify emerging solutions.  This is not research; it is engineering that can be integrated into project designs early in the design cycle to enhance performance.
  • Interpret customer specifications and perform the necessary preliminary designs to attain customer approved compliance.

Salary:

$90,000 – $110,ooo/year

Authority:

  1.  Has authority to generate and approve test procedures for products designed.
  2.  Has authority to generate schematics and drawings of items designed.
  3.  Has authority to update production documents with changes that have been made to designs (ECNs).
  4.  Has authority to direct the activities of more junior engineers.

Education preferred qualification education/work experience:

  • Master of science in electrical engineering or physics.
  • 5 or more years in RF design engineering.
  • 3D Electromagnetic simulation, linear and non-linear RF circuit analyzer, RF measurements, RF propagation
  • RF antenna measurements including antenna beam patter, EIRP and gain.
  • Design of RF/microwave passive circuits
  • Design of phased array antennas
  • Solid 2.5D or 3D simulation background for antenna arrays, parabolic antennas, horn antennas, log-periodic antennas, SIW, microstrip to waveguide transitions, and couplers.

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of tasks under close supervision of higher-level employees. These tasks may include assisting with extra workload, covering for absences and vacations, and supplementing crews to meet unusual operational requirements in the production area.  Operates hand and machine tools to manufacture parts.  Needs to be proficient in the use of precision measurement tools such a micrometers, calipers and verniers. Must be able to work with a computerized time and job tracking system. The job requires the completion of  in-process paperwork, performing in-process QC inspections, moving jobs to next operation. Assisting in loading materials and unloading completed parts on other machine(s). Must maintain a clean work area and equipment must be cleaned daily.

  • Clean and lubricate equipment, maintain  a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt.   Prepares and  puts away tools as assigned.
  • Closely follows directions operating machinery.  Holds or supplies materials and tools. Loads raw materials and unloads completed parts from machinery and assembly lines.
  • Performs unskilled jobs at the plant.
  • May be trained to act as a back-up forklift operator
  • Reports any issues to supervisor or higher-level employee.
  • Dimensionally check completed parts.  Sign off on the dimension check documents contained in  the job traveler

ABILITIES:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.

Position Description:

Troubleshoot, Repair and Calibrate new production antennas, and electronic instruments as well as antennas and electronic instruments returned by customers for repair and re-calibration.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Test, calibrate and/or repair new production antennas and electronic instruments down to the component level.
  • Test, calibrate and/or repair customer’s antennas and electronic instruments equipment
  • Record specifications and make proper adjustments when necessary to required specifications
  • Work with Engineering, Production and Inventory Control to resolve manufacturing problems
  • Follow step by step alignment/calibration procedures
  • Proper handling of required documentation (work orders & data sheets)
  • Answer questions and/or train technicians on existing and new processes and calibration procedures

Main Requirements:

  • Two year technical school electronics training (AAS degree preferred)
  • 3+ years theory-based troubleshooting to component level preferred
  • Knowledge of RF and Microwave circuits

Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of RF and Microwave circuits considered very valuable
  • Able to use and understand basic electronic test equipment
  • Able to study electronic schematics and understand principles of operation
  • Able to troubleshoot independently to the component level, locating manufacturing defects or defective components
  • Proficient in use of small hand tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers, nut drivers)
  • Able to use approved solder and unsoldering technique

Job Description:

Read, and interpret mechanical prints, and product parts from the prints.  Operate manual lathes in the production of high precision parts.  Inspect first articles and production run samples to engineering and customer specification documents.

Qualifications:

Must have a working knowledge and experience in the operation of vertical and horizontal milling centers, and lathes.

  • Knowledge of setup of Mill/Turn tooking & materials for productions, including installation & removal of tools, and setting machine parameters
  • Ability to inspect & verify quality of machined parts using mechanical prints, calipers, and micrometers
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
  • Any ability to operate and/or program CNC machines will be considered advantageous

A minimum of 3 years experience is required.  Electro-Metrics will provide some training for a person with some machining skills, that is willing to expand knowledge in the machining trades.
